Late in the year last year, Gage Morin took a job opportunity in Western Canada, and put his racing efforts on the back burner for a while. He returned home for a summer break, and was back on the track this past weekend in a Big Block Modified as Gage hit the road with his team with scheduled visits to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania on Friday night and Canandaigua Motorsports Park on Saturday night.
Lernerville Speedway was a new experience for Morin, and he adapted well to the track and the powerful Big Block Modified. He started fifth in his qualifying heat race and finished with a solid third place result. After making some adjustment on the car before the 25 lap feature, Morin and the team were confident that they would have a good night. They started the race from the sixth position and maintained a top five spot throughout the entire race. Gage crossed the finish line with a solid fourth place run.
The team traveled to Canandaigua Motorsports Park on Saturday night, but the night ended early, as motor problems developed and the team was done for the night, and unable to run the feature.
Morin will return to his job in Alberta this week, but hopes to get back home before the end of the summer, and get back behind the wheel of his Big Block Modified.
Gage would like to thank his sponsors, pit crew and all the race fans for their support. Cornwall River Kings, M. Bray Construction, MC Trucking and Filion Trophies are all an integral part of the race team as sponsors, and Car Owner Doug Young and crew members Kevin Lobb, Marcel St. Louis, and Chris Marsolais are dedicated and committed to making sure the car is ready to go each race night.
